The Moptop

In May, it will have be two years since I bought my first house! Time has flown by and we have done a lot of projects and small updates but there is still a lot of work to be done. This bedside update was one I did last year but I realized I never shared it here! There are still a few updates I need to do in here (including getting new curtains) but I felt like this was such a simple and beautiful bedside update.

Jute rugs are always my go to when I need a rug but don’t want to spend a fortune. In comparison to other rugs, they’re a little less expensive but they still look great! They go really well with a lot of different furniture styles and I feel like it gives a serene look to our bedroom. These cherry blossom branches, I found at a local flower shop and I felt like they would be ideal in this vase! I really love how this all came together. Now I need to see if I can find some different curtains…what do you think I should get?

Ok, I’m really not into following trends or only dressing for trends but on occasion…there will be a trend that I get on board for! Red is definitely having a moment and I think it’s a color that is easy to incorporate into everyday outfits. You might already have a few red pieces in your closet and so I thought I would share some outfits with pops of red!

This &Daughter cardigan is one of my recent investment purchases and has been a great way to add a pop of red! I’ve been very intentional with my clothing purchases lately. I’ve been wanting to buy pieces that I know I will be able to wear for years, pieces that are more timeless rather than trendy. This cardigan is absolutely beautiful and the quality is SO nice.

Happy 2024! I have to start out by saying that Dcember 2023 was the busiest but also the most incredible month of my life. SO much was going on and I am still catching up from it all. I GOT MARRIED! I didn’t hire a wedding planner so a lot of it was just me coordinating it all and figuring it out along the way. More on the wedding soon (I promise!) but I figured I would back track a bit and share our engagement photos!

I knew when it was time someday to get my engagement photos done, that I would wan tot get them done by Kaley from Kansas. Her work has inspired me for years so I was SO excited to have her take these for us. West Texas is one of the most beautiful places in the state and ideal for engagement photos! We traveled out to Big Big National park for the photos and then ended up spending the rest of the weekend in Marfa. If you’ve never been, I truly can’t recommend it enough! Marfa is such a cute, quaint little town literally in the middle of nowhere. It ended up being an ideal getaway for us.

Also, if you follow me on instagram then you might have already seen the Milk Books Magazine that I made with my engagement photos! Here is the video in case you haven’t seen it yet! The magazine turned out so beautiful! And it’s such a great way for us to easily see and look back at our engagement photos. It’s now my favorite coffee table book :’)

These boxer shorts are super soft too. They’ve been ideal for a mornings lounging at home or in my case…being sick at home! I’ve had a back cold for awhile and this was such a good outfit to just rest in and drink lots of tea!

A simple, cozy sweater is such a fall staple. But I’ve honestly had a tough time finding one that is the right fit and soft/not itchy. I have finally found the PERFECT sweater! The fit is exactly what I wanted too. I went up a size to ensure it was slightly slouchy. It’s so soft too! No itch at all, I could literally wear it to bed lol The sweater is from Quince and was one of my first pieces I’ve tried from them. I had seen their pieces all over social media before but was curious about them. I am a big fan of the pieces I’ve tried! This sweater especially!
