Five Boots that are Worth the Investment

32060025

I’m so excited to finally share this post with you all. Boots are definitely a staple for me during the cooler months and even parts of spring. I think it’s important to have a couple of options that work for you and your personal style. So I thought I would share my favorites from this season with you all. Ones that I bought myself (unless otherwise noted). Boots can be pretty pricey but for me, it’s one thing I can justify spending a little more on because I wear them so much.

Here they are, FIVE BOOTS THAT ARE WORTH THE INVESTMENT:

BY FAR – Jeanne Boots

Basically any of the boots from BY FAR are worth the investment for me. They are very pricey which is why I waited until their black friday sale to finally snag a pair. But the quality of their shoes in general is just really great. They’re going to last many years. Also, I’ve seen their shoes on sites such as Garmentory and The Realreal on sale, so keep an eye out!

Loeffler Randall – Cooper Bootie

The perfect white boot! This is my first pair of white boots (I’m pretty sure…) and I don’t know why I didn’t get them before! I know white boots can be kind of scary since they show wear and stains way more but this material is very easy to wipe off. I love the shape of these boots and the unique texture. Although, they aren’t the most comfortable boots at first….they definitely need to be worn in a bit. But they’re currently ON SALE TOO! (these boots were gifted from shopbop but I love them!)

FREE PEOPLE – Cecile Ankle Boot

My number one. My go to. These bad boys have lasted over 3 years and still look beautiful. I love the simple design and french feel of them. They pair perfectly with denim, dresses, skirts, you name it. These are more affordable compared to the others and SO worth every penny. I couldn’t hype or suggest these boots any more. They really are a favorite of mine.

Flattered – Mika Boots

These are my newest pair and I am constantly drooling over the color. This rich camel color is one of my favorites this time of year. And I love that it matches one of my bags so well! These are another great go to boot to pair with camel coats, denim, blazers, sweaters…pretty much anything you can think of this time of year. The best thing is, since we’re slowly heading into spring styles…these boots are on sale too!

(This pair was gifted to me from Flattered)

Paloma Wool – Emelia Boot

This pair, I’ve probably worn the most this season. I’m not going to lie, getting them was a big pain in the a** but it was worth it. When I first ordered them, they didn’t fit. And wanted to exchange them for a larger size but they don’t offer free returns and I couldn’t justify the $80 shipping back to Spain. I did end up selling the small pair online and reordered the proper size and it was all worth the trouble. The color is so fun and a great contrast during these dull winter months. Plus the wooden heel is so unique and feels like I am wearing a piece of art. If you’re thinking about getting a pair…make sure to SIZE UP if you’re between sizes. OR buy them from sites like Garmentory or Lisa Says Gah where you won’t have as many issues with shipping hopefully!

I hope you all liked this post! And I really hope it was helpful or at least inspiring. All of these images were shot on film by Chantel Marie, cool right?! She also sells film cameras in case you’re interested! Just click the link in her bio.

I think I’m going to dive into film more this year. It’s always so fun to see how the images will turn out and it’s always so beautiful to see.

Here are a couple of other honorable mentions or boots that are similar but a wider price range ! Let me know what one is your favorite and hope you all had a great new year!

I love this time of year so much! But as I have gotten older, it’s tougher to make the time to see all of my family. A lot of them live in other cities and states so it just makes it tough this time of year. But I have collaborated with Homesick candles this year to help ease that feeling! Their candles are all about easing the homesick feeling by having candles that remind you of certain cities, states, countries or even memories. I love burning the Holiday one as well because it just makes my apartment feel extra cozy this time of year. It also makes for a great gift, especially if you want someone to know you’re thinking of them!

It’s never too late to get a gift! Unfortunately, I am sending my parents gift a little late, so make sure to check out Homesick candles for a last minute gift idea that really comes from the heart (or home!)

Make sure to use my code “TONYA” to get free shipping too!

This post was in collaboration with Homesick candles but all ideas are my own!

Dressing up for holiday parties and events has always been kind of tough for me. It’s cold this time of year, so wearing dresses and skirts isn’t my first choice. Although they can totally work with tights, a sweater or a coat, I just prefer a good, warm outfit that can still be dressy enough for going out.

Cord or velvet flares and boots instantly look more chic and put together. Paired with a statement earrings and you have the makings of a holiday look that’s still warm!

So if you’re struggling to find an outfit for the holidays this year, here is the perfect recipe for a holiday look! (and you probably already have some of these pieces in your closet already!)

  1. Cozy Sweater or Turtlenecks
  2. Velvet or Corduroy Flares
  3. Heeled Boot
  4. Statement Earrings

I think for new years, I will be wearing a dress and boots since I will be inside mostly. But I thought this would be a good outfit to share in case you need a holiday outfit idea. Let me know what you plan on wearing to your holiday parties this year!

Also, I just wanted to also share with you all that Amazon now has a Shopbop online boutique! So you can shop all of your favorites brands and styles on Amazon! Perfect way to use those gift cards you have saved up. Check it out here!

What I’m Wearing: Coat: MaxMara (Shop coats here), Sweater: MKT Studio, Earrings: Reliquia, Purse: Vintage Celine (Similar here and here), Pants: MKT Studio, Boots: Free People

Five Wide Leg Pants to Try This Winter

BM9A0556

BM9A0583

I hope wide leg jeans stay in for awhile, because I still can’t get enough of them! I think a lot of the trends are saying the next big jean trend is going to be low rise high huggers due to the 2000s being back, which I love, but I just don’t know if I can get into that jean style. Time will tell!

But while wide legs jeans are still all the rage, I thought I would share a few favorites as well as a few pairs that look REAL GOOD! This pair I am wearing from & Other Stories are sold out unfortunately! I have checked so many times to see if they restocked or brought them back but no luck. White jeans seem like such a faux pas during the winter time but I can’t get enough of them all year round! You just have to make sure you plan to wear them on a day where it isn’t down pouring or a day you plan on being inside mostly. They’re just classic and pair well with SO MANY THINGS. It’s hard to do wrong with white denim.

Still got love for the teddy coats too! This one is a little more flattering and cropped than the other massive one I love to wear, but still just as cozy. I got this one from Urban Outfitters last year but they brought it back! The color is just a little different from this one but the jacket is still just as great. I will link it below as well.

It’s so hard to decide what to wear this time of year since it’s so cold. I just keep gravitating towards basics, a big coat and boots. It works right?!

OK SO NOW TO THE FIVE WIDE LEG JEANS TO TRY THIS SEASON:

  1. Rachel Comey Legion Jeans – I have these and love them (see photo of me in them here)! The frayed edge is great and the color is a little bit of an off white which is nice. The only complaint I have is that they aren’t a very stiff material. So tucking in thicker fabrics sometimes doesn’t look as flattering.
  2. Everlane Wide Leg Utility Pant – The pants I feel like SO many people have (except for me…I might have to change that) But they’re so cute and affordable and sustainable. What’s not to love?!
  3. Urban Outfitters Ribbed Velvet Kick Flare – These look so cute and perfect for the holidays! Not sure if they would be flattering on me but I love all of the colors!
  4. Levi’s Rib Cage Super High Rise – Another pair of jeans I have and love! A more subtle of a wide leg but with a very high waist! So if high waist isn’t your thing, I would pass on these ones. (I’m wearing them in the first outfit in this post)
  5. Khaite Bootcut Flare – I have my eyes on a few pairs of jeans from this brand! The black Bootcut Flare in particular! They’re a bit of a splurge but a good pair of denim can be so worth it!

Let me know what style is your favorite from the list! And check out my outfit details below:

What I’m Wearing: Coat: Urban Outfitters, Tee: Vince, Jeans: & Other Stories (SOLD OUT but similar here and here), Necklace: Wolf Circus, Boots: Zara, Ring: Wolf Circus

One of my Favorite Brunch Spots in Portland

Portland is filled with SO many incredible coffee shops, restaurants and cafes that it’s honestly hard to list them all! So I thought I would share at least one of my favorites (for now!). Vivienne Kitchen & Pantry is one of my favorite little cafes nestled in NE Portland. It’s one of those hidden gems that I like to visit every so often especially for brunch. The space is so nice and airy, filled with beautiful natural light and decorated as though I just transported somewhere in Europe. Every little detail of Vivienne just feels so special and as if you’re at a relatives, possibly your grandmas house, for a light lunch. All of the china is vintage or antique, beautifully mis-matched, and elegantly quirky. Every time I go there, I end up getting the same thing. I might be a creature of habit or I just know what I like! The egg salad sandwich is a must! Along with a side of coffee or rose lemonade.

Also, I wanted to note this top was one of my recent vintage finds while I was in Reno! I have always been a sucker for a great vintage button up blouse, especially since they pair so well with denim. Although you can’t see them here, the brown top is paired with my new chocolate brown boots too! Just a little monochromatic look for you!

Let me know what other Portland places you would like to see on my blog as well as any outfits or style tips!
