Fall Coat Styled Two Ways

Currently typing this as it’s gloomy outside and officially feeling more like fall in Portland. When I took these photos though, it was definitely not feeling like fall lol But there’s just nothing like a good fall coat to get you inspired for cooler weather! Fall style is always one I look forward to every year.

Oak + Fort sent me this coat from their current collection and it might be a fall staple for me this season. It can be styled so many different ways and I actually love wearing white and cream during fall and winter as well. No rules here! The shape is so unique and can be synched to really accentuate the waist as well. I love the looser fit but I could see it synched and worn more as a statement piece. As much as I think there are so many cute heels out there, I am all about sneakers. I wanted to show two different ways to wear this coat just by simply changing your shoes and/or bag. Outfits made easy!

I would love to know which look you like better?

Summer to Fall Look

As much as I’m sure we all want summer to stick around forever, it’s time to face the music…fall is just around the corner! I’m sure so many of you are excited about fall too though! One of the toughest things about summer coming to an end is trying to figure out wtf to wear. It’s starting to cool down but still a little too warm for serious layers or boots. So I thought this outfit would be a good example of a transitional look for summer to fall.

Blazers are a STAPLE. A MUST HAVE. A GO TO for fall for me! They’re so easy to find at a vintage shop or thrift store. And so many brands make beautiful ones as well that are perfectly tailored and the best kind of oversized fit (like this one I am wearing!) But blazers are such a good transitional piece for summer to fall. You can pair them with dresses, skirts, sandals, tanks…all of your summer pieces but the blazer eases you into fall.

Another alternative, especially if you commute for your work, is paring this look with sneakers like I did in the bottom images. I know these shoes are a bit of a statement, which is partially why I love them so much…Acne Studios can do no wrong!! But if these sneakers are too intimidating, a good classic pair of Adidas or Nike’s would be great with this look as well. It’s really all up to you! That’s what we all love about fashion and style right? 😉

Side note: AUrate has some reallyyy cute jewelry if you’re looking for a new jewelry brand to crush on. They sent this twisted ring and it’s just a great simple layering piece!

Chinatown, San Francisco

WOW. What a week, what a trip to SF I had.

If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know that my friend Esperanza (@theurbandarling) and I went to San Francisco this past week and while we were there, my car got broken into. The thief ended up stealing my friend’s laptop and THEN cashed a check for himself from the checks inside. We then had to drive from San Francisco to Portland without a window, into the fires that are going on as well. Needless to say, it’s been a long tough week.

But despite those difficulties, we really did have such a fun time in San Francisco. We walked so much, saw so many things and of course took way too many photos haha And now I am finally able to sit and catch up, edit them and share the content! So let’s start with one of our first stops of the trip…Chinatown in San Francisco.

There’s obviously a Chinatown in Portland, but I had never seen a Chinatown like the one is San Francisco. IT WAS SO COOL. The first night there, we walked around as the sun was going down to see all of the lights. It reminded me a bit of Blade Runner with all of the neon lights and cool signs. Honestly, exploring this area of San Francisco was one of my favorite things we did on the trip.

Now on to my outfit. This outfit was styled with the walking we had planned in mind. I wanted to be comfortable but still cute of course! This tee is one of the SOFTEST, COMFIEST tees that I own. Plus paired with sneakers, this outfit really nailed it in the comfort category.

Alright well I have some emails to catch up on from the week so that’s it for now! LOTS of SF content coming up!

Casual Everyday Outfit

I feel like I’ve been slacking lately on my blog. To be honest, I was feeling uninspired for a bit. Just not really loving anything I was creating, doubting myself and just really getting into a negative mindset which really hinders any sort of creativity. For the past year or so, I feel as though I have been focusing so much on trying to create the “perfect” outfit, or the “perfect” photo or feed. While doing this, I would always feel like what I was creating wasn’t good enough. I’ve been comparing my style and success too much to others on instagram and the blogging world which in return made me not really be grateful for the personal things I have accomplished through the years with my platform and pursuing what I love. Basically, I was able to finally realize all of this and take a step back. I am posting more iphone photos again and just focusing on why I start this whole thing all together, which is just to share outfits and hopefully inspire you. So with all of that being said, today’s blog post is just a good, simple jeans a tee outfit. MY FOREVER GO TO. A casual everyday outfit.

I’ve always loved a good graphic tee, which I am starting to think came from my tomboy childhood and always being in a sports jersey. I love how undeniably comfortable they always are, and they’re another one of those pieces that can be styled countless ways. The weather has been all over the place in Portland so a look like this is great for the unpredictability. Sandals to keep cool, but jeans so I don’t get too cold. Pretty simple, just the way I like it.

Off the Shoulder Summer Dress

I’ve always thought that off the shoulder styles weren’t for me. We’re all pretty harsh and critical of ourselves so I think it was just one of those styles I never thought I could “pull off”. When The Outnet reached out to collaborate with me, I was so excited about this dress. It was time to finally try an off the shoulder piece. And guess what… I LOVE IT! The style is so simplistic but dramatic at the same time! The dramatic sleeve is such a cool way to offset the no shoulder too.

This dress would be great for summer date nights or any special occasion, besides a wedding probably. You don’t want to wear white obviously 😉 you might get kicked out for that…lol

Has anyone else been noticing the hair scarves making a comeback too?! One of my favorite gals to follow on Instagram, Maria Bernad (@maria_bernad), is making a strong case for them! The vintage look of them is something I can’t help but love too. I feel like I should be in Italy in the 60s, driving down the coast in a little car with cat eye sunglasses with I wear my hair like this.

Anyways, thank you Outnet for sending this look so that I could share it with all of you! And to share more about them! Their site is seriously so great. They have a bunch of great designer brands at a discounted price!! There really is something special about owning a designer piece but let’s be honest, they can be way out of budget (especially if you’re paying off your student loans like me!). The Outnet has brands like Chloe, Acne Studios, Stella McCartney, all at discounted prices since fashion moves so quickly! The best way to invest in some incredible brands and pieces.

SIDE NOTE: THESE SHOES ARE ACTUALLY VERY COMFORTABLE AND THEY’RE CUTE! I’ve been having the worst luck with shoes that are cute and also comfortable. I recently got a pair that are so cute but they hurt my feet like hell. THESE ARE ACTUALLY COMFY!! Just make sure you get your correct size!
