Two Winter Looks with Express

I am all about staying warm and cozy this time of year. But that doesn’t mean I have to compromise to lounging around in sweatpants and five layers…I still am all about expressing myself through my style. In the mornings, I tend to want to snuggle on the couch with my cup of coffee, catch up on some emails and check social media. There’s nothing like a soft sweater for this! This chenille sweater from Express is SO soft and SO cozy. You might not want to leave the couch once you have this on. It’s the perfect way to get the day started and perfect for wearing throughout the day too!

And here is outfit number two. Perfect for running errands during the day, or for meetings, meeting up with friends or any other last minute things that may come your way. I love the idea of a white coat this time of year too. It’s crisp and pairs perfectly with any color of boots! This one is on super sale right now too and would be great going into Spring next year! The shape of this one is oversized and structured, it’s a good one.
Neutrals were my main inspiration of this outfit (like many of my outfits) and I like pairing different neutral and brown tones together.

My Recent Favorite Purchase!

The other night, I was browsing Pinterest (as usual) and I saw THIS image. I instantly fell in love with the coat and searched all over the internet until I found this one I am wearing here! Although, it’s not the exact same one from the photo, it is pretty damn close and a good price. I was luckily able to find it at a local mall (do you guys still shop at the mall?!) but it’s been my recent favorite purchase ever since! It’s also been so cold here in Portland and this coat is SO warm. Functional and cute…basically what I strive for with every outfit.
These overalls were one of my Black Friday purchases for myself during Reformation’s sale…and I loveee them! The quality is great and they’re so soft. This look was definitely inspired by Jeanne Damas. Here modern, vintage, Parisian style is always so inspiring. And I kind of felt like I was walking the streets of Europe, wishing this Beetle was my own.
This top was another Shopbop Black Friday purchase and I love it! Such a great layering piece.

I’ve never believed in the “no white after Labor Day” and I don’t know many people who do. I actually think there’s something kind of special about wearing white during the winter, especially lace. Although I do love it during the warmer months, I like to pair white and lace tops under my camel coats! And you can’t really wear a camel coat in the summer!
I picked up this SEA NYC lace top during the Shopbop sale! It’s the perfect top to pair with jeans or dress up with a skirt for a night out.
So in case you’re skeptical about the “White after Labor Day” thing, I decided to link a couple of white tops that work great for this time of year!

White Tops you can wear THIS Season:
1. SEA NYC Lace Top (seen on me here!)
There they are,  go ahead and try it! White during the winter is so fun! Just remember to bundle up!

This year can be tough for me when it comes to styling and inspiration. I am very much a tomboy and that can be seen in my style. I do love a cute dress and I do love velvet, but sometimes it can be hard for me to come up with ideas for holiday outfits! Luckily, I did all of the hard work for you guys too if you’re dealing with the same thing! I recently got this ROMPER from Urban Outfitters and it’s the perfect holiday outfit piece! You can wear it to grandma’s house (it’s a romper, so you’re safe), you can wear it to your holiday work party or even save it to wear on New Years Eve! It’s simple enough to pair with tights, a nice shoe and a warm coat! I think it would pair so perfectly with a soft, faux fur jacket too. Or if you get cold easily, swap out the heels for a pair of boots!
Plus this romper is on sale (ending today, the 6th) for $49 plus an additional 30% off! Here is a link to it! It’s one less thing for you to worry about during this crazy time of year!

How to Buy Designer Pieces on a Budget

When I first started my blog, six years ago as a high schooler, I was not into designer pieces whatsoever. I preferred to hunt through the thrift stores for vintage pieces, the more colorful the better! Now, I love both of those things and have learned over the years how to find exactly what I am looking for…including designer pieces! And having a love for designer items can be expensive! So I thought I would share a few tips with you guys on how I have been able to obtain a couple of designer pieces over the last couple of years without racking up the credit card debt.

1. Head to those thrift stores! I have found countless vintage designer pieces. This has been where I have had the most luck so far. I’ve found a Christian Dior coat as well as this Max Mara coat, both at second hand stores and in beautiful condition. This takes a lot of time and persistence, but it can be totally worth it!
2. Wait for sales! Sign up for emails! A lot of online stores offer discounts to first time shoppers and of course have sales. I was able to get a Simon Miller bag during black Friday for almost half off! I had been eyeing it for so long and it ended up being worth the wait.
3. Keep an item in your cart. And check back every now and then to see if it’s gone on sale! This works for more than just designer pieces too!
4. Try resell apps and websites. Some great places to check include: Depop, Etsy, Ebay, Poshmark, and more! There are lots of bloggers out there who end up selling their designer pieces for a portion of the original price!
5. Shop last seasons pieces. I’m sure the fashion police is would get after me for advising this, but it’s a great way to find amazing designer pieces on sale! This is great especially if you live in a city where there’s pretty consistent weather all year round. Stores discount pieces when they’re going out of season, and this is a great way to snag them up for less!
There you have it, my tips on buying designer pieces on a budget! I hope that helps a bit! Designer pieces can really be great, especially if it’s a pieces you really love. I end up wearing pieces more that I really invest money and time into, they mean more to me and I look forward to wearing them.
Let me know if you guys have any other tips too! I would love to hear them!
