Dressing Down a Feminine Top

I wonder how many times I’ve mentioned that I am a tomboy, well here it is again…I am totally a tomboy at heart. Growing up, I loved riding four wheelers with my dad, wore baggy clothes, and was always playing soccer or some sort of sport. That part of my childhood has really influenced my current personal style…once a tomboy, always a tomboy. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love a good lace or floral top and dress here and there. One of my favorite things to do with really feminine pieces is to dress them with sneakers to make it a little more casual! It’s just super fun!
I’ve actually been wearing sneakers a lot more than my blog shows. I wear them so much throughout the week since they’re so comfortable! Most often I find myself wearing Converse, Vans, Adidas and Supergas…what is your go-to or do you have a few favorites as well??
I think pairing a nice backpack with this look, really seals the polished tomboy look. This leather backpack has been one of my favorites because it’s so convenient for taking all of my things with me!
Also, I am determined to get as much wear out of this top as possible! It’s a splurge but sometimes treating yourself is just worth it and you might be surprised how much you end up wearing the new piece since you love it so much!

Express Your Ambition

The start of a new season can be the perfect time to try out new trends and take risks with your personal style. Sometimes it can be a little scary, especially if you’re used to wearing the same thing frequently. But being ambitious with your personal style can be really rewarding! You might find out you really love to wear something that you just had never given a shot before. For me, I want to try and wear more color this year. This spring, color is a huge trend, and since I usually stick to a lot of neutrals and black and white, I want to try and branch out a little more. Neutrals are my favorite, so I won’t be giving them up at all but I just want to hear and there try out more reds, blues, purples, yellows, and greens and see who I can incorporate them more into my everyday style.

Free People Wrap Top and Clogs

This was one of those outfits that I had planned in my head for awhile and then when I finally put it all together, I fell in love with it even more! I used to work at Free People and I honestly had to take a small break from the brand. I was constantly surrounded by their clothing and part of my job was to actually wear pieces from the brand while at work (plus some other personal reasons) so I think after a couple of years a break was overdue. But the break is over and while I was browsing online one day, I saw this top and instantly bought it. It just has a sweet and simple vintage look to it that made me fall in love. Last year, I was all about wrap tops and I think this year might be the same! They’re just a lot of fun and make a simple top a little more interesting. Plus they pair well with denim which is very important to me as well.
What do you guys think about clogs?! I am in love with them right now! For some reason, when I saw this top, I knew I wanted to pair it was a pair of clogs just to continue with the simple vintage look. Icons of the 60s and 70s are really inspiring me these days. Jane Birkin just always looked so effortless and had signature pieces she would wear multiple ways. And that’s something I want to do more with my style!
Also, as a blogger, I do work with a lot of companies and brands that send me pieces to wear…and I am SO grateful for that! But I just wanted to quickly share that I bought this outfit myself! Combining high and low, vintage pieces with modern…and all me!

Spring Sweater Dress

I’m super curious of the current weather you’re having in the city you live in. Is it more Spring? Still stuck in Winter? Or the complete opposite…Summer?! Here in Portland, we are experiencing a day or Spring then full on Winter. Basically, the weather is so random lately and it’s been hard to keep up with it. So that’s why I decided to combine best of both worlds with this outfit, a sweater dress! Great for that little extra warmth but not too warm that you’re basically sweating lol
Even though this dress might not be the most flattering dress I’ve ever owned…it is SO comfy. I love the long sleeves and how I can push them up a bit if I want to. And it’s another one of those pieces that I can dress up or down really easily. This time, I decided to go with the more casual route and paired it with some classic white Superga’s.
And are you guys surprised I paired the look with a basket bag?! Lol Probably not but they go with literally everything! This watch from Henry London is another great little finishing touch/accessory for this casual look. Something I really like about watches is that they help me stay off my phone a bit. Instead of going to my phone to check the time, and then somehow spending another hour on it browsing nothing, a watch really keeps me more in the moment. I think I really need to wear them more often. Plus Henry London has some really cute styles!

Florals for Winter and Spring!

It seemed like it was just the other day in Portland, that the sun was shining and the flowers were starting to bloom. I was really thinking that Spring was well on it’s way until this past week hit. Portland got hit with snow two days in a row and my dreams of warmer days started to diminish. But I had been so inspired by the thought of spring and started to slowly collect pieces for my spring wardrobe! Florals for spring are always a good idea I think, no matter how over done they are. I think wearing darker florals are perfect for winter and transitioning into spring. I paired this top with darker denim to give it a more winter feel but this top could easily be paired with white or lighter denim for Spring too.
Basket bags have been a go to of mine for the past few years and still are! My mom and I were in Tacoma last weekend and she found this while we were thrifting! I think it’s so cute and perfect for upcoming looks! I can’t wait to wear it more 🙂
