Camel Coat at the Coast

A little bit of a throwback to a couple of weeks ago on a rainy day at the coast, definitely a drastic change from the amazing sunny weather we’re finally having in Portland! I thought I would get one last late winter/early spring look in while some of you are still having chilly weather! This coat has been such a staple for me this past year. It instantly pulls together a great outfit and I love how it matches my closet color palette so well.
I’ve been leaning towards more classic and simple outfits lately. I’m sure eventually I will want to start exploring more unique looks and style but right now I have just been drawn to simple, clean, no fuss outfits. I don’t wear heels too often but these glove shoes from Everlane are the perfect height especially when worn with denim. And when the weather starts to get better, I love pairing coats/jackets with slides and mules! Finally time to show off your toes again!
Do you remember me posting about this bag on instagram? I was super on the fence and hated the super small size of it. But guess what…it’s grown on me! I kind of like the small size! It forces me to really be minimal and only carry the bare essentials with me.
This warm weather has me so excited for more Spring and finally Summer! Here are a couple of brands I am currently drooling over and can’t wait to wear as the weather heats up:

I’ve talked about this before, but being comfortable is such an essential part of my personal style. If I’m not feeling good in my outfit then it’s hard to be really confident and my true self. I love brands like Lou & Grey that are SO comfy and cute too! Being able to go out and do my usual errands, such as plant shopping (because you can never have enough plants right) is incredible when you can do it in a CUTE pair of sweats. I’m not lying to you guys when I say these are the softest, most comfy sweats I’ve ever owned! I have the same pair in grey that I am wearing right now as I type this! haha
Make sure and check out Lou & Grey! They’re a new go-to of mine for leisure and casual basics. And everything pairs so well with all of my favorite sneakers!

Here are a few of my current cozy favorites from the Lou & Grey site:
1. Upstate Sweat (as seen here in the photos)
2. White Signaturesoft Top (as seen here in the photos)
3. White/Navy Stripe Tee
4. Feminist Stripe Tee

Let me know what one is your favorite too!

Pairing Designer and Vintage

IMG_9223 IMG_9265 IMG_9231 IMG_9182 IMG_9168 IMG_9269 IMG_9126

I started The Moptop in 2011 based on mostly thrifted and vintage pieces. I was still in high school and didn’t have much of a budget for clothing so I really relied on finding cool pieces at local thrift shops and vintage stores where I lived. My love for the “thrill of the thrift find” still is very much there but I still find myself loving designer and modern pieces as well. That’s why I love outfits where I can combine both vintage (thrifted too!) and designer pieces together. This might be something that some bloggers find as a taboo but I think most people prefer to dress this way!
Can you guess how much I got this beautiful vintage coat for? Five bucks. Yep. I couldn’t believe it either. Especially since it looks similar to so many modern pieces for sale in stores right now. Pairing a vintage piece with a designer bag or shoe instantly makes the outfit more elevated I think. You wouldn’t be able to tell this coat was from a thrift store unless I told you right?
I thought I would share this simple trick with you all! I’m trying to find more time to go vintage shopping and I have finally been getting back into it more. I recently found an incredible rattan rocking chair for eight dollars and my butt hasn’t left it since I got it! haha Did you see it on my instastories? I would love to know what your favorite vintage finds have been lately! Let me know in the comments!

Shopbop has been one of my favorite, go-to shops right now! I love how they style the looks, how easy it is to shop, the rewards program they have and also the brands they carry. They make online shopping really fun and easy for me which is why I continue to shop with them and love being a Shopbop Partner! This top is one of my favorite Shopbop pieces I’ve got and they currently having a sale where if you spend under $500, you get 20% off and if you spend over $500, you get 25% off! I already bought a pair of shoes I have had my eye on for awhile and figured this was the perfect time to get it. I really suggest checking out the sale and this is the time to get that investment piece you’ve been eyeing.
The top I am wearing in this post is currently 20% off! Or 25% off if you spend more! Just use code EVENT18 at checkout!
Are you tired of seeing this bag or top yet?! I hope not. haha!
I can’t stop wearing either of then, they’re just too perfect for Spring! I’m also loving these fun shoes from the WhoWhatWear collection at Target. Such a great price and I was really happy about the quality of them as well. They’re so chic too which can be tough to find when it comes to really affordable brands sometimes.

I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say, I’m fully ready for Spring! It seems like even though we’re technically in Spring, it feels like we’re still stuck in Winter. Especially those of you on the east coast dealing with snow right now!
We had a pretty decent day in Portland this week where it wasn’t raining but it was overcast and perfect for photos. Even though some of my outfits aren’t super weather appropriate, I hope that you can come back to them when it starts to warm up a bit. Or maybe you’ve been having great weather where you live, this outfit is for you too!
As I get older, I have started to really understand my personal style more and more. I love a good floral print, yes I know…so original for spring but I can’t deny my love for it! And a good wrap floral dress has been a weakness of mine for a couple of years now. Pairing this mule and bag together has also been a go to for me since they compliment each other so well. It’s the best feeling when an investment piece was really worth the investment and these shoes were so worth it! I’m even contemplating getting a second pair since I wear them so often.
Have any of you shopped at & Other Stories? They’ve been one of my favorite shops/brands as of lately! I love their classic styles and they’re super affordable which makes them even better! This wrap dress is from & Other Stories and I’m not going to lie, I was a little skeptical when I first saw it online. But it was one of those rare pieces where it actually looked better on and in person! I love when that happens!
