I’ve lived in Portland for over six years now…pretty crazy to think about! When I first moved here, I didn’t really think too hard about getting weather appropriate clothing. Instead I just “braved” the rain and ended up being pretty wet, cold and miserable as the day went on. I’ve learned that getting a pair of weather appropriate boots or a jacket is such a necessity to get through the fall and winter, no matter where you live. I can pack up these Sperry Duck boots for my upcoming trip to Reno in case it decides to snow while I am there. Having pieces that are functional and still cute and so important.

As someone who always wears denim too, I like having pieces that can pair easily with them. The neutral tones of these boots make them so easy to pair with my denim and cozy sweaters or my rain coats! Weather appropriate and still a cute, put together outfit. Seriously, there’s nothing worse than being miserable in the cold and still not liking your outfit!

Here are a few options below from Sperry to get you through the winter and even help you look forward to going out in the rain or snow! The insides of these boots are so soft and warm too. Another bonus!

When I saw this top online on Sezane, I knew I had to have it because it looked so similar to the color of shoes I have from Everlane! And just like I thought, there were a perfect match. Did you wear basket bags all summer too? They’ve been a spring and summer necessity for me but I wanted to figure out how to wear them with my fall looks! I don’t really think there is a rule to wear basket bags, they really work for so many seasons especially if you live in a warmer climate. It has cooled down a bit but a few weeks ago, an outfit like this was perfect for Portland weather…and basket bags!

This is another one of those examples of an outfit that can be worn at a variety of occasions. This would be great for a brunch date with your friends, or a date with your man, or treating yourself to coffee. I like outfits that mix casual and put together. Wearing low pumps can feel dressy but paired with a ripped pair of denim and it gives it a more casual and cool feel.

Is it me or does it feel like I’ve been a bit behind on blog lately?? I really want to start focusing on producing more outfits and great content on here, so I would love to know what kind of posts you would like to see!

Anyways, I have a really busy week coming up with lots of projects and shooting content for the holidays! And then the week after I am going to Reno to visit my dad! SO I have to make sure I get everything done this week. Wish me luck and lots of coffee!

SO happy to be partnering with L’Occitane this holiday season to share a really great gift idea with you all! L’Occitane has recently protected 150 different varieties of plants and are focusing on preserving more landscapes. For instance, they have planted 15,000 almond trees! When you give one of these gifts, you’re doing more than just giving someone a gift, you are taking part in a gift that’s even bigger. It feels so great to be a part of something like this!

There are so many different gift box options as well! I personally tend to love lavender! It’s so soothing and really eases my anxious feelings and thoughts. The lavender gift box has SO many different products in it, such as foaming bath, hand cream, body soap, body lotion and more that it feels like you’re getting more than just one gift! And like I said before, when you buy the lavender set you are also supporting local farmers and help L’Occitane preserve Provence’s Lavender heritage as well.

Or maybe you’re more into Almond! I love the size of the Almond gift set too. It would be such a great gift for a coworker, a teacher, or a mother in law? OR whoever else you have in mind.

I hope this post helps give you an idea for a gift this upcoming holiday season! Shop the sets below:

RE/DONE Jeans outfit

For some reason lately, I have been really drawn to very simple looks. It’s been hard to feel really inspired on days when it’s pouring rain so it’s nice to have simple, classic basics! I have always been a fan of RE/DONE. If you don’t know of them, they’re a denim brand that takes vintage Levi’s and tailors them to fit better! But they also have their own line of denim that I can’t get enough of! The 501s are one of my favorite styles, and these RE/DONE jeans are a modern version that involved no tailoring at all. I love the subtle frayed him and the high waist, button fly. They’re the perfect go to jean to match with cozy sweaters this season.

SIZING: I found that RE/DONE jeans tend to run pretty small. I usually have to size up almost two sizes whenever I get a pair. But once you find that pair, it’s incredible. They do stretch out a bit with wear, so you do want them pretty snug at first. Make sure to use my code “themoptop15” to get 15% off at RE/DONE too!!

There are so many great places to explore in Portland! I get asked a lot where some of my favorite spots are and one of the places I love to wander around and walk with a coffee is Mississippi street. There are some really great local shops, coffee and food and especially during the fall…lots of beautiful nature! You don’t have to always travel out of town to discover something new. It’s nice getting out to explore right in my own city! These pieces from Patricia Nash were perfect for my morning of venturing around Mississippi street. When I know I am going to be walk around a lot and possibly buying things or holding coffee, I prefer to have a cross body bag to make things comfortable and easy. It’s a bonus when the cross body fits things I want to buy like this one!

When fall rolls around, I tend to be drawn even more to neutral and brown tones. The print on these Patricia Nash Designs Marcella boots are great too because they are more unique than a normal brown boot. The embossed floral add a bit of feminine touch to my rugged vintage denim. The pieces are vintage inspired as well, which of course fits right in with my personal style!

In case you’re heading to Mississippi street in Portland soon, make sure to check out Pistils Nursery, the food carts at the end of the block, Fresh Pot Coffee or Jory Coffee and Por Que No to eat!
